WR / DB Coach
A Pleasanton native who played football, baseball and basketball at Foothill high school. Goodell led Foothill to back to back NCS Championships compiling a 24-2 record. A 1st team All Bay Area/All Nor Cal Wide Receiver as well as 1st team Best of the Best as Corner Back. He set a EBAL record 11 Interceptions his senior year. As WR he compiled 900 yards on 38 catches and 11 touchdowns. He was selected to the Cerebral Palsy All Star game for Alameda County. He was selected to the BEST of the Best 1st Team, All Lesher Newspaper team. Listed as #8 best athlete to come out of the bay area next to the likes of Randy Johnson, Tiffany Roberts and Mark Madsen. Goodell also led the Bay Area in Basketball and 1st team all Bay Area with a record setting game high 49 points. Goodell also stared on the All Star Team his senior season.
Football landed Goodell at Texas Tech playing for Spyke Dykes father of current TCU head coach Sonny Dykes. The school that founded the Air Raid Offense. However just before going to play Peyton Manning in Tennessee he got an offer for full scholarship lured him to Idaho State University to play for Super Bowl OC for the Raiders Tom Walsh under then head coach John Madden. He even took part in the NFL Regional combine, trying out in Southern California for 20 professional teams.
Goodell has been fortunate to have a strong coaching pedigree with some of the best coaches in the game including Fred Biletnikoff Jr, James Franklin Head Coach at Penn State, Tom Walsh OC for Oakland Raiders Super Bowl team, Derek Mason Vanderbilt Head Coach, Lance Anderson Stanford Defensive Coordinator & Bruce Barnum Head Coach Portland State.
Goodell is married to Lindsey and they have four kids Tatum 11, Bryson 9 Brooks 4 & Nash 2months. His father Steve Goodell a former pitcher at USC and Pittsburgh Pirates, his brother Steve Goodell Jr was drafted by Florida Marlins and played with Atlanta braves organization.
